Tuesday, Genesco Inc. (GCO) said the same store sales for the quarter-to-date period ended January 9, 2010, were up 1% from the equivalent period last year, when same store sales were down 4%. Sales for the e-commerce and catalog direct sales businesses rose 24% in the quarter-to-date period ended January 9, 2010.
Genesco stated that it remains comfortable with its previously announced earnings expectation of $1.07 - $1.13 per share for the fiscal year ending January 30, 2010. Final fourth quarter earnings will depend on same store sales for the balance of the quarter and quarter-end accounting adjustments, among other factors.
