G-Unit's Lloyd Banks has been released on bail from a Canadian prison after being arrested on assault and robbery charges over the weekend. The rapper paid $50,000 in bail and was briefly held by Canadian Immigrations before being released back into the U.S.

The 50-Cent associate and members of his entourage allegedly beat up and robbed a concert promoter after a dispute over payment for a performance given on Friday in Brantford, Ontario. Banks and his crew were charged with criminal confinement, aggravated assault and robbery.

"The case probably will proceed on the basis that it will be put over for three to four weeks for me to receive what is called the 'prosecutors disclosure.' That's all the information that supposedly supports the charges," Banks' lawyer, Patrick Ducharme, told MTV News.

"The case will proceed through the courts," he added. "If it stays in the lower courts, it takes about a year and a few months to resolve. If it goes to the higher courts, it could be as along as a year and a half to bring the matter to court."

Ducharme also revealed that Banks will plead not guilty to the charges at his upcoming hearing.
