AT&T To Launch New Unlimited Plans To Match Verizon's Price Cut - Update

Friday, Communications holding company AT&T Inc. (T) said it would introduce a range of new unlimited plans across all devices which will be available to its customers from January 18. Earlier today, its rival Verizon Wireless, owned by Verizon Communications (VZ) and Vodafone Group (VOD), slashed its prices on its wireless unlimited plans.

Dallas, Texas-based AT&T announced a range of new plans for different type of customers. The company, however kept its texting plans for its smart phone customers and feature phone customers unchanged at $20 for unlimited plans for individuals and $30 for Family Talk plans.

For the company's feature phone customers, unlimited talk plan is available for $69.99 and family talk customers of this device holders can use unlimited talk by paying $119.99 per month.

Unlimited talk and text plan will be available for the company's quick messaging device customers for $89.99 per month, including a $20 per month for texting and/or Web browsing plans for new and upgrading customers. The user of this device with a family talk plan can avail a unlimited talk and text for $149.99 per month, this includes a $30 per month in texting and/or Web browsing plans for new and upgrading customers.

Including iPhone customers, all its smart phone customers can avail unlimited voice and data for $99.99 and family talk customers of smart phone users can use unlimited voice and data plan by paying $179.99 per month.

Verizon had earlier today announced new nationwide unlimited talk plan that allows customers to call anyone in the United States for $69.99 monthly access or a nationwide unlimited talk and text plan to call and send text, picture and video messages to anyone in the country for $89.99 monthly access from January 18.

For Verizon's family share plans, nationwide unlimited talk is available for $119.99 per month and, nationwide unlimited talk and text plan is available for $149.99 per month.

The unlimited talk plan is available as prepaid plan for $74.99 per month and, unlimited talk and text is available for $94.99 per month in prepaid plan.

Verizon expanded its 25 megabyte for $9.99 per month data package requirement to include all Verizon Wireless 3G Multimedia phones. The $19.99 data package option for 3G Multimedia phones has been discontinued.

However, for simple feature phones Verizon kept its $9.99 or $29.99 data packages and $1.99 per megabyte data packages unchanged. For 3G Smartphones its consumer data package of $29.99 per month remain unchanged.

T closed Friday's regular trading at at $25.79, down $0.40 or 1.53% , while VZ closed at $30.58, down $0.64 or 2.05%.
