Shania Twain will appear as the guest judge on tonight's episode of American Idol. The Canadian country star temporarily filled in as a judge for tapings of the show following Paula Abdul's departure in August.
Shania served as one of several celebrity guest judges brought in by producers to fill the open seat before signing a deal with new judge Ellen DeGeneres.
"What we need to find is someone who has great chemistry," said Fox Entertainment Chairman Peter Rice. "It's really a casting job . . . There are multiple right answers and there are multiple wrong answers. Our job in the next four to five months is to really consider what makes this the most fun and the most entertaining."
Shania also made recent headlines for her participation in carrying the Olympic torch through her hometown of Timmins, Ontario, Canada, on January 1.
"It's a highlight of my life to be able to carry the flame, to light the cauldron," the singer said in an interview with Canada's News 24.
American Idol airs tonight at 9 PM on Fox.
