Hancock Holding Q4 Profit Surges - Quick Facts

Hancock Holding Co. (HBHC) reported that its fourth-quarter net income was $31.78 million, compared to $8.32 million in the same quarter of last year. Earnings per share for 2009's fourth quarter were $0.89, compared to $0.26 per share for the same quarter a year ago. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.44 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Net interest income for the quarter was $63.70 million, compared to $55 million in the prior year quarter. Non-interest income excluding securities transactions was $63.35 million, compared to $30.58 million in year ago quarter.
