Thursday, Altria Group Inc. (MO) reported fourth-quarter net income attributable to Altria Group Inc. of $725 million or $0.35 per share, compared to net income of $679 million or $0.33 per share in the same quarter last year.
On an adjusted basis, earnings for the quarter increased 5.4% to $0.39 per share from $0.37 per share in the year ago quarter.
On average, 10 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.40 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Net revenues for the quarter increased 29.2% to $6.01 billion from $4.65 billion in the comparable quarter last year. Analysts expected the company to report revenue of $4.14 billion for the quarter.
Looking ahead to the full year 2010, the company expects reported earnings in the range of $1.78 -$1.82 per share. On an adjusted basis, the company expects earnings in the range of $1.85 - $1.89 per share. Analysts currently anticipate the company to earn $1.87 per share for the full year.
