Thursday, CommScope, Inc.,(CTV) a provider in infrastructure solutions for communications networks, said it plans to reduce its workforce by around 110 people at its Connectivity Solutions Manufacturing Inc. facility in Omaha. The layoffs will take effect in March and reduce the facility's workforce to fewer than 400 people.

CommScope also is analyzing options for the facility's future as it works to become more efficient and protect the profitability of its business. These options include expanding the use of contract manufacturers and potentially closing the Omaha facility and relocating production to other, lower-cost, CommScope locations.

The company indicated that a combination of difficult circumstances—including facility underutilization, high labor costs, customers' spending slowdown and their demand for lower-cost products—is causing the company to consider all options for serving the customers, while protecting the profitability of business.

The company revealed that in its drive to become more competitive and challenging global conditions also have affected a number of CommScope's other facilities. In the past two years, CommScope has reduced workforces globally and closed facilities in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, England, Italy and the US in order to reduce cost and protect profitability.

CTV is traded at $28.38 down $0.07or or 0.25% on the NYSE.
