Cytec Industries (CYT) announced that its Engineered Materials division has been awarded contracts to supply carbon fiber composite materials for major primary structures on Bombardier's new CSeries and Learjet 85 aircraft programs. Cytec was also awarded a contract to supply a suite of advanced materials for current Bombardier aircraft programs. Cytec expects the awards to generate revenues of about $800 million over the next ten years.
CYCOM 890, a liquid resin infusion system with excellent hot/wet properties, will be used for the manufacturing of structural elements of Bombardier's CSeries aircraft wing. CYCOM 890's performance characteristics widen the resin infusion processing window and reduce fabrication risk of large and complex structures. This material is manufactured at Cytec Engineered Materials' Wrexham, UK facility.
