Romania's trade deficit stood at EUR 850.6 million in December, narrower than the EUR 1.57 billion deficit recorded a year ago, the country's Central Statistical Office said on Tuesday.
Exports surged 18.9% year-on-year in December to EUR 2.33 billion, while imports were down 9.9% to EUR 3.18 billion.
In full year 2009, exports decreased by 13.9% compared to 2008 and imports fell by 32.3%. A cumulative trade deficit of EUR 9.74 billion was registered.
