Joan Baez will join the lineup of musicians set to appear on this week's PBS special, In Performance at the White House: A Celebration of Music from the Civil Rights Movement.
In honor of Black History Month, the special event will commemorate the civil rights movement of the 1960s by hosting a concert featuring some of the most socially conscious musicians of that era. Baez will join the likes of Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson, Seal, Natalie Cole, John Legend, the Blind Boys of Alabama and Yolanda Adams for the celebration.
Baez and Dylan performed together almost 50 years ago during the famous 1963 Civil Rights March on Washington, D.C., the same march that also saw Dr. Martin Luther King give his famous "I Have a Dream" speech. In 1963, the two performed "The Times They Are a-Changin'" and "When the Ship Comes In."
There is no word yet if the former collaborators will perform together again for the PBS special.
In Performance at the White House: A Celebration of Music from the Civil Rights Movement will be recorded tomorrow and then broadcast on PBS on Thursday.
