India's Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said Wednesday the economy was likely to grow above the projections, media reports said.

He pointed out that the economic survey of 2008-09 had predicted the economic growth at 7.75% for the current year.

Mukherjee said the country's economy grew 7.9% in the second quarter this year and the outlook for the remaining quarters of the year was likely in the upper bound range of the projections.

The Central Statistical Organisation in its advance estimate has projected 7.2% growth while the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy estimates it at 7.75%. The RBI forecast 7.5% while the IMF expressed confidence that India would grow 7.75% this year.
