DMX has been arrested on five counts of probation violation, according to TMZ.
The rapper - whose given name is Earl Simmons - was reportedly arrested in Arizona for the use of illegal drugs. He was booked into a Phoenix jail late Tuesday afternoon.
"He's been battling addiction for some time and he's in need of treatment," the rapper's legal representative told TMZ.
DMX had served about half of an 18-month supervised probation sentence stemming from cruelty, theft and drug charges. He had also served 90 days in jail before being released in May.
Earlier this year, DMX was named the National Rainbow Coalition's Tolerance Fighter of the Year for his single "Where the Hood At." The Best of DMX, featuring "Where the Hood At" and "X Gon' Give It To Ya," was also released earlier this year by Def Jam.
DMX is due back in court March 16.
