Conservative talk show host Glenn Beck singled out Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA" at the 2010 Conservative Political Action Conference as a perfect example of the progressive politics he says are killing the country. Beck read the lyrics from the 1984 hit, then went on to denounce the subject of the song as unpatriotic.

After reading a verse from the song, Beck said, "That's what it's all about. That's what America's all about, according to Springsteen. . . . It's time for us to wake, wake up, out of our, um, dream state. Wake up out of the propaganda."

"The, you know, this is the thing that, people who come from the Soviet-bloc or Cuba, they're all saying, 'How do you guys not hear this? How do you not see this?'" asked Beck. "Well, that's 'cause we don't ever expect it."

Beck was the keynote speaker at this year's CPAC. Other speakers included former Attorney General John Ashcroft, television personality Tucker Carlson, and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.
