Actor Fess Parker, best known for his 1950s role as Davy Crockett, has died. He was 85. According to reports, Parker passed away on Thursday at his home in Santa Ynez, California, due to natural causes.
The actor gained fame in the 1950s playing Crockett, the famous 19th century frontiersman, in "Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier." Later, he played Daniel Boone in the NBC series from 1964 to 1970, profiling the American pioneer and hunter of the 18th and 19th centuries.
He also had smaller roles in some movies, including "Springfield Rifle," "Island in the Sky," "The Bounty Hunter" and "Battle Cry."
After his acting career, Parker turned his attention to operating the Fess Parker Winery & Vineyard in Los Olivos, California. The winery includes over 1,500 acres of vineyards, a tasting room and visitor center along the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail.
