Credit card spending in New Zealand increased for the second straight month in June, official figures show.
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand said spending was up a seasonally adjusted 1% in June from May. It follows a 2% increase in the prior month.
Spending using domestic credit cards increased 0.8% month-on-month in June. This followed a 1.9% rise in May. Spending using overseas cards climbed 2.7%, following the 2.5% increase in the previous month.
On a year-over-year basis, total card billings in New Zealand increased 4.5%, following the 3.4% rise in May. Domestic card spending rose 4.4%, while overseas card spending was up 4.9%.
