French Housing Approval, Starts Rise In 3-month To June

Data released by the French Housing Ministry showed Tuesday that housing approval increased 21.3% in the three months to June compared to the same month of the previous year. The number of approval totaled 110,233. In the twelve months to June 2010, housing approvals were up 0.1% to 423,975.

Housing starts increased 2.5% in the three months to June to 79,801. In the 12-month period to June, 333,704 housing starts were recorded, down 10.8%.

The ministry granted 2.5% less permission for non-house constructions during April to June of this year and 11.8% fewer in the period from July 2009 to June 2010. Non-house building starts fell 15.8% in the three-month to April and 20.9% in the twelve-month to June 2010.
