Consumer prices in Italy were up 1.7% year-on-year in July, the statistical office ISTAT said on Tuesday, in line with expectations. This is higher than the 1.3% inflation rate in June.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up 0.4%, also matching expectations. Prices were unchanged in June.
Meanwhile, the harmonized index of consumer prices climbed 1.8% annually in July, faster than the 1.5% increase in the preceding month. On a monthly basis, harmonized consumer prices slumped 0.9%.
