Bee Gees' Robin Gibb Undergoes Emergency Surgery

Bee Gees vocalist Robin Gibb is in recovery after undergoing emergency stomach surgery earlier this week. The singer endured extreme stomach pains earlier this month, showing similar symptoms to those that killed his brother Maurice Gibb in 2003.

"The similarities with Maurice's tragic death were eerily worrying. Everyone was praying there wasn't something in their genes that made both twins susceptible to some deadly condition," a source close to the family tells Australia's Herald Sun.

"Thankfully he's home and feeling much better, but doctors are still examining test results," the source adds.

Even with the loss of his twin brother, Robin has kept the band's classic 1970s sound alive. However, he has canceled a string of previously scheduled tour dates for later this year. After Maurice's death, Robin and Barry Gibb took some time away to cope with their grief.

"[Maurice was] not just a brother but a comrade in arms really . . . It's an emotional thing when you lose someone that close," Robin told the BBC last year.
