South Africa's Gross Reserves Decrease In August

South Africa's gross reserves slightly decreased to US$43.13 billion in August from US$43.16 billion recorded in July, a report by the South African Reserve Bank showed on Tuesday. Economists had forecast gross reserves to total US$43.4 billion.

Gold reserves amounted to US$4.97 billion in August versus US$4.72 billion in the previous month. That represented an increase of US$255 million. Forex reserves decreased to US$35.46 billion from US$35.72 billion.

South Africa's SDR holdings was US$2.69 billion in August, down from US$2.72 billion in July. Foreign deposit received increased by US$36 million.
