A NATO soldier and six civilians were killed in militant attacks in Afghanistan on Tuesday.
The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said in a statement that one of its soldiers was killed in a roadside bomb blast in the south of the country. It did not reveal the victim's nationality or details of the incident.
The latest death takes to 577 ISAF casualties in Afghanistan this year, making 2010 the deadliest year for foreign forces since they began anti-Taliban operations in 2001.
Separately, a roadside bomb blast on Monday targeting a NATO patrol in the Kunduz province injured four U.S. troops.
The civilian casualties were the result of a rocket attack by suspected Taliban militants in eastern Afghanistan. Two children, one woman and three men traveling in the vehicle in the eastern province of Paktika died in the attack, the Afghan Interior Ministry said.
Afghan and coalition forces detained several insurgents in five overnight operations in southern and eastern Afghanistan targeting Taliban and Haqqani network leadership.
A senior Taliban leader was killed in a precision air-strike by ISAF in Kunduz province on Monday.
Another member of the Taliban leadership who commands up to 20 fighters in the Sistani area of Marjah district and two of his associates were killed during a joint overnight operation by Afghan-coalition forces in Helmand province.
