Prince has confirmed that he will kick of his "Welcome 2 America" tour this December. The announcement came at a brief press conference held at New York City's Apollo Theater earlier this week.

"If you've been to one of my shows, then you know what time it is," the "Purple Rain" hitmaker said during the event. "You need to come early and come often because every time we play it's always something new. I got a lot of hits."

Prince gave no indication as to where the shows will take place or how much tickets will cost, but he did confirm an impressive list of support acts, including Janelle Monáe, Mint Condition, Esperanza Spalding and Cassandra Wilson.

The 52-year-old's most recent album, 20Ten, was released as an accompaniment to several European publications in July. It has not yet been released in the U.S.
