Moser Baer India Ltd. said its Engineering Procurement Construction arm had commissioned a unique building integrated photovoltaic or BIPV technology led solar application in Hyderabad.
The commissioning of BIPV application in India heralds the arrival of this new age technology which would allow commercial buildings to increase the use of renewable source energy in aesthetic manner.
BIPV technology provides unique opportunities to convert glass windows, front facades, exteriors and other building integrated applications into solar panels, which will directly capture sunlight and covert them into power.
Using this technology, the exterior facade on the front of the Jubilee Hills shopping complex at Hyderabad was converted into solar panels to erect a 1.8 kWp solar application. These panels will generate electricity to meet the power requirements in the corridors of the shopping complex.
As per BCC Research, BIPV currently is a small but noticeable part of the world solar PV market. The global market was valued at 1,201MW in 2010 and is expected to increase at a 56 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) to reach a capacity of 11,392MW in 2015, the company said.
At the BSE, Moser Baer India shares are being traded at Rs.44.95, up by 0.22 percent from the previous close.
