A massive fire in an underground power cable tunnel had disrupted power supply in South Africa's commercial capital of Johannesburg, forcing most of the business establishments in the city's commercial district to shut down, said officials on Tuesday.
Local authorities said that the they have not yet identified the exact reason for the fire and added that it took more than seven hours to put out the fire.
Meanwhile, officials at the electricity company City Power said that it will take a few days to repair the damaged cables, adding that it is too hot inside the tunnel for them to start the repair works right away.
