Verizon Business expands private IP network; signs deal with India's Polaris

Verizon Business, a unit of Verizon Communications (VZ) announced expanding its global private IP network, after it added significant number of private IP nodes across Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific and enhanced ethernet access capabilities in Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America. In addition, the company said it has been chosen by India's Polaris Software Lab for its Verizon Private IP -- a network-based, virtual private network.

Verizon Business said it is continuing to invest in its global Private IP network, which is based on MPLS technology, offering its customers secure, scalable and flexible network connections with integrated performance and traffic-management capabilities.

The company said it has established its private IP network across the globe, including Europe, Middle East and Africa - Capetown, Casablanca, Dubai and Istanbul- and Asia-Pacific - Bangalore, Bangkok, Chennai, Jakarta, Karachi, Mumbai and Taipei. New partnerships have been set up to extend coverage in countries like China, Japan, Poland and Saudi Arabia, the company added.

Separately, Verizon Business announced that it has been selected by the Chennai-based IT services company Polaris Software Lab for its Verizon Private IP to streamline global sites and enhance business communications.

Verizon said its Private IP would provide Polaris a secure and resilient network, offering reliability and flexibility. In addition, the multiprotocol-label-switching or MPLS based service can easily be scaled to support Polaris' ongoing global expansion plans.

Verizon Private IP -- a network-based, virtual private network or VPN- offers customers secure, scalable and flexible network connections and provides the capacity for future IP-based conferencing.

Shares of VZ ended Friday's trading session at $29.96.
