Reed Elsevier Chairman Jan Hommen Resigns - Update

London based publishing company Reed Elsevier Plc (RUK) Monday said that Jan Hommen would resign as chairman and Board member of Reed Elsevier PLC and Reed Elsevier NV at the companies' annual general meetings to be held on April 21 and 22 respectively.

The Reed Elsevier Nominations Committee will oversee the process of appointing a successor to Hommen.

Reed Elsevier Group Plc is owned equally by two parent companies, Reed Elsevier PLC and Reed Elsevier NV. The company provides professional information and online workflow solutions in the Science, Medical, Legal, Risk Analytics, and Business sectors.

Earlier in November, the company said that its Elsevier business subscription renewals are robust and there is strong demand for expanding online services. Further, it stated that medical publishing program, health professional sectors and clinical decision solutions are witnessing good growth, pharma advertising remains weak.

According to the company, Hommen would be joining ING Group as chief executive officer from April 27, 2009 on confirmation at the ING Group annual general meeting.

RUK closed Friday's regular trading at $29.80 on the NYSE.
