Bed Bath & Beyond Q4 profit declines - Quick Facts

Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc. (BBBY) posted fourth quarter profit of $141.4 million or $0.55 per share, compared to $172.9 million or $0.66 per share in the same quarter a year ago.

On average, 18 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.44 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Net sales for the fourth quarter were $1.923 billion, down 0.5% from $1.933 billion last year. Comparable store sales in the fourth quarter of 2008 decreased approximately 4.3%.

Fifteen Wall Street analysts expected revenues of $1.92 billion.
