Electricite de France SA, or EDF (EDFEF.PK) is reportedly mulling the pros and cons of the sale of its regulated electricity distribution business in the UK, the Financial Times reported Monday. However, no decision has been made on the matter so far, the report added.

Citing sources close to the matter, FT said the company's management is yet to decide whether to focus purely on power generation internationally and added that the discussions were driven by capital constraints arising from foreign acquisitions. EDF Energy acquired British Energy in January 2009.

EDF Energy intends to build four new nuclear reactors with the first one operational by 2017 end. The company said it will also invest in British Energy's existing fleet of eight nuclear power stations which provide the UK with about one-sixth of its electricity.

The contemplation also comes amidst a wider strategic review of the company's industrial future as it faces unprecedented investment requirements in France and abroad, FT stated.

EDFEF last traded at $35.10 on the OTC.
