(RTTNews) -  Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (GWR: News ) announced that January traffic fell 9.8% to 63,862 carloads from 70,785 carloads in the same period last year.

Coal, coke and ore shipments declined to 16,373 carloads from 19,929 a year earlier.
Farm and food products shipments declined to 6,720 from 8,500 last year primarily due to fewer shipments in GWI's Australia Region. Pulp and paper dropped to 6,697 from 8,404 in the same period last year.
