Arcade Fire are licensing their song "Wake Up" to the National Football League to use to use during Super Bowl XLIV in an effort to benefit the victims of the Haiti earthquake. The band has pledged that all proceeds from the licensing agreement will go toward Partners in Health's Stand with Haiti relief efforts.
The song is taken from the bands 2004 album, Funeral, and will air on television during the game on Sunday, February 7.
Arcade Fire have some personal ties to the ravaged island, as bandmember and multi-instrumentalist Régine Chassange's family emigrated from Haiti to Canada just before she was born.
"Treat Haiti with compassion and respect and make sure that the country gets back on its feet," Chassange wrote in an article that appeared in the U.K.'s Observer. "My heart is crushed."
Arcade Fire has been hard at work raising awareness for Haiti since news of the disaster broke.
