Greenbrier Companies (GBX) reported first quarter EPS of $0.48 Friday morning, compared to the loss of $0.11 in the previous year. The consensus estimate was for EPS of $0.35. The company also expects revenue and earnings in fiscal year 2012 to be much higher than in 2011.
Greenbrier Companies rose sharply in the first hour of trade Friday and closed higher by 2 points at $25.89, with volume at a 9-month high. The stock climbed above nearly a 2-week range and set a 7-month high.
