In a fairly quiet week for new releases, the latest season of HBO's popular fantasy series "True Blood" is among the most prominent new titles hitting DVD and Blu-ray, with feature drama "Beautiful Creatures" also hoping to find its audience after struggling in theaters.
With the final season of Showtime's hit series "Dexter" approaching, the complete seventh season will likely make same waves as it hits DVD and Blu-ray this week, while sci-fi epic "Cloud Atlas" could also find a fairly wide audience starting this week. Also getting launched in a fairly slow week for new releases will be "Texas Chainsaw 3D" and TV movie "Liz & Dick."
Coming off of a solid box office run over the winter, Tom Cruise-starring "Jack Reacher" leads the DVD and Blu-ray calendar in an eclectic week for new releases that all take aim at different target demographics. Looking to find a mostly different crowd than "Reacher" will be "Safe Haven," a romantic drama starring Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough that had a strong run in theaters.
Following up one of the most impressive box office runs of the awards season, "Silver Linings Playbook" hits DVD and Blu-ray this week as the most prominent new release, which should help it once again find its target adult demographic. Other options this week include thriller "Broken City," comedy "The Guilt Trip" and indie "Not Fade Away."
