The Swiss stock market ended Tuesday's trading session in the green. The market traded to the downside for the majority of the morning, but recovered and then climbed during the afternoon. A renewed hope for a resolution to the debt situation in Greece provided support to the positive market move during the second half of the day.

Greek leaders, chaired by the Prime Minister Lucas Papademos, are trying to decide whether to accept a harsh austerity program, so that the country can receive a new aid package worth 130 billion euros. Investors were cautiously optimistic in the afternoon, but a decision had not been reached by the close of the trading day.

The Swiss Market Index climbed by 59 points to 6,157 Tuesday, a gain of 0.17%. The Swiss Leader Index dipped by 0.16%, but the Swiss Performance Index increased by 0.17%.

Swatch was the most notable decliner during Tuesday's session. The watch-maker dropped by 4.0% after reporting disappointing January sales and an operating profit and net profit that fell slightly short of expectations. Richemont was also dragged lower by the news, finishing down by 2.5%.

UBS also declined Tuesday after its operating income and net income fell short of consensus estimates. The stock finished lower by 1.4%. Julius Baer and Credit Suisse also closed to the downside, with losses of 1.6% and 0.6% respectively.
