A delegation of U.S. Republican Congressmen will arrive in Seoul on Friday on a three-day visit to South Korea to inspect security conditions in the context of its Communist neighbor's decision to go ahead with plans to launch a long-range rocket next week.
The five-member delegation that included Saxby Chambliss of Georgia and Richard Burr of North Carolina will meet with South Korean Foreign Minister Kim Sung-hwan and visit the Demilitarized Zone dividing the two Koreas, the Yonhap news agency reported quoting a Ministry statement on Thursday.
North Korea has announced its plan to launch a long-range rocket to put a satellite into orbit sometime between April 12 and 16, which South Korea and the United States believe is aimed at testing its ballistic missile technology.
South Korea and Japan have made all arrangements to shoot down the rocket if it strayed from its trajectory. Despite international pressure, North Korea appears to be readying for the rocket launch to commemorate the birth centenary of the nuclear-armed country's founder Kim Il-sung.
