Aretha Franklin has thrown her hat into the ring as a possible judge for one of the many singing competition shows on television. During a recent interview with Showbiz Tonight's Nischelle Turner, the Queen of Soul said there should be more elite singers as judges.
"I think that some of the leading singers should judge singers," she said. "I see these different shows, but I don't see any of the major names as a singer, judging a singer. That's what I was saying."
She did, however, praise the addition of Mariah Carey to the judges panel of American Idol: "That's all right. I like Mariah . . . So I'm happy for her."
Tina Turner later added her own two cents: "I think she would be fantastic . . . she does tell it like it is. Are you kidding? As a viewer, Aretha Franklin and Mariah Carey, giving criticism to the next generation of singers? She'd be great."
