Korea Industrial Production On Tap For Thursday

South Korea will on Thursday provide April figures for industrial production, highlighting a modest day for Asia-Pacific economic activity.

Industrial production is expected to be flat on month and fall 0.6 percent on year following the 2.6 percent monthly decline and the 3.0 percent annual contraction in March.

New Zealand will see building permit numbers for April; in March, permits were down 9.1 percent on month.

Australia will announce Q1 numbers for private capital expenditure and April figures for building approvals. Capex is called higher by 0.5 percent after dipping 1.2 percent in the previous three months. Building approvals are called higher by 4.0 percent on month and 22.5 percent on year following the 5.5 percent monthly decline and the 3.9 percent yearly gain.

The Philippines will provide gross domestic product numbers for the first quarter of 2013. Forecasts suggest an increase of 1.6 percent on quarter and 5.8 percent on year following the 1.5 percent quarterly gain and the 6.8 percent annual increase in the previous three months.

Hong Kong will release retail sales data for April, with analysts expecting an increase of 11.2 percent on year following the 10.2 percent gain in March.
