Bruno Mars' mother has died at the age of 55 of a brain aneurysm.Bernadette Hernandez, who was born in the Philippines and became a hula dancer when she emigrated to Hawaii, died on Saturday at Honolulu's Queens Medical Center after suffering a suspected heart attack on Friday.
She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren, according to her friend Anita Sojot, who told Star magazine on Friday: "The grandkids are all here, I'm looking after them."
Mars (real name: Peter Gene Hernandez) is one of Mrs. Hernandez's six children (sons Eric and Peter and daughters Presley, Tahiti, Tiara, and Jamie). Mars has sung about his love and dedication to his mother in the past and has her name tattooed on his shoulder.
The singer is slated to tour the U.S. this summer.
