Bret Michaels escaped serious injury after his tour bus hit several deer.

The former Poison rocker (50), who was traveling in a new bus between Abilene (Texas) and Biloxi (Mississippi) on Friday, was with his driver (who is also his head of security) when the crash happened. All the deer involved were killed in the collision, while Michaels and his driver suffered minor scrapes and bruises from the incident.

Michaels said of the incident: "Except for some bumps and bruises I am thankful there were no serious injuries. It is unfortunate for the deer, but thankfully due to modern RV technology and a steel firewall we are all okay."

He added: "I have every intention to make tonight's show in Biloxi and the tour will continue."

Michaels has suffered from previous health threats, including a brain hemorrhage in 2010 and heart surgery to repair a hole in his heart in 2011. He is currently featured in his Travel Channel series Rock My RV with Bret Michaels.
