Beck performed his sheet music-only album, Song Reader, with Jarvis Cocker, Franz Ferdinand and many others on July 4 in London. Beth Orton, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and the Mighty Boosh also got in on the act.
Fan shot video, which is currently circulating the web, features Beck joking, prior to the track "Do We? We Do," that he's "not sure how this song ends, maybe it never does."
Song Reader, a book, is comprised of 108 pages of sheet music that fans can learn to play themselves. The music, according to a presser, is meant to "be pulled apart and reshaped."
According to the Independent, the concept was transformed into a captivating performance on Thursday night at the Barbican:
"Do they pull it off? Hell, yeah. Right from the get go, with Joan As Police Woman's soulful interpretation of 'Eyes That Say I Love You,' it's clear that this is one concept that's actually going to work."
