The number of Irish workers claiming jobseeker's benefit declined in August, data released by the Central Statistics Office indicated on Wednesday.
The live register total, which also includes part-time, seasonal and casual workers, fell by 3,400 from July to a seasonally adjusted 415,300. The total figure was 435,500 in the same month a year ago.
On an unadjusted basis, the total decreased by 20,976 persons from last year.
The standardised unemployment rate declined to 13.4 percent from 13.5 percent in July. The latest household survey had revealed a seasonally adjusted jobless rate of 13.7 percent fro the second quarter.
