Kinks guitarist Dave Davies says that, contrary to popular belief, Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page did not play on the band's song "You Really Got Me." Davies hit Facebook to deny the charge, most recently made in a BBC doc.
"BBC TELLS LIES ABOUT DAVE DAVIES AND THE KINKS IN THEIR NEW DOCUMENTARY," wrote Davies.
"I, Dave Davies, invented the distorted guitar sound and played the solo on 'You Really Got Me' and Ray Davies played rhythm guitar. We never used ANY other guitarists on any Kinks hits."
The song's producer, Shel Talmy, and Page himself have denied the rumor in the past.
"Contrary to myth, Jimmy didn't play on 'You Really Got Me,'" Shel told the Guardian in 2013, adding, however, that Page did play some rhythm guitar parts for Ray.
