Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin and Arcade Fire are all subjects of films set to show at the Toronto Film Festival, which begins on September 10 and runs for 11 days.
Franklin's film, Amazing Grace, was shot in 1972 by Sydney Pollack to document her live double album of the same name at the New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles.
The film was never released before now due to improper synching between visuals and sound - a problem which has been fixed with the help of new technology.
Janis: Little Blue Girl, a documentary on the late blues singer, as well as The Reflector Tapes, a documentary on the making of Arcade Fire's latest album, will also premiere.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of TIFF.
