Sam Hunt Discusses Struggling To Find Inspiration For New Album

Sam Hunt says he's struggled in writing the follow-up to his debut album, Montevallo, in particular, because his life changed so drastically with the success of that album.

He explained to Rolling Stone, "Before [Montevallo], I was writing about my life at that moment, and the years prior, and now I am living a completely different lifestyle."

"I am trying to draw inspiration from that, but it's pretty much been stages and hotel rooms for the past two years. So I'm trying to figure out right now exactly what I want to say, and what I want my voice to be for the second record."

"As much as I enjoy traveling and playing on stage as an artist, I really find my true sense of purpose in a room writing a song," he adds.

"That's something I have missed, because I haven't figured out how to write on the road.

Two weeks ago, Hunt spoke with Entertainment Weekly, saying he's currently in the studio, and opening up on the sound of his sophomore album.

"I've really been able to appreciate the value of certain types of songs [for] a live audience," he said.
