New Zealand Inflation Expectations Weaken: RBNZ Survey

Two-year ahead inflation expectations in New Zealand moderated slightly in the November quarter, a survey published by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand showed Tuesday.

Inflation expectations for the next 24 months dropped to 1.85 percent from 1.94 percent in the September survey.

At the same time, expectations for the next one-year climbed to 1.51 percent from an anticipated 1.46 percent in the previous quarter.

The indicator measuring perceptions of monetary conditions for the next twelve months worsened again to -59.70 from -56.50 in the preceding quarter.

Inflation expectations for the next quarter climbed to 0.46 percent from 0.31 percent in the September quarter, and the perceptions of monetary conditions indicator for the next quarter decreased to -53.20 from -48.40.
