Damon Albarn and Adele were among the big winners at the Ivor Novello Awards, which took place in London on Thursday. The honors are voted on by the U.K. songwriting and composing community.
Adele won the Songwriter of the Year award, while Albarn took home the Lifetime Achievement award.
"I won it on my last album as well," Adele said at the INAs, "but I was secretly pregnant, so I didn't enjoy the night too well."
Accepting his award, Albarn said, "What is songwriting? What is it all about? True songwriters are people who are able to release themselves from something that's really affected them by writing a song about it."
Other honorees included James Bay (PRS Prize for Music Most Performed), Jamie Lawson (Best Song Musically and Lyrically for "Wasn't Expecting That"), Villagers (Best Album), and Snakehips (Best Contemporary Song).
