Elton John is featured on the Red Hot Chili Peppers latest record. The Getaway, the group's eleventh album was released June 17. With some help from another legendary artist.
John and longtime lyricist Bernie Taupin sat down with RHCP in studio to collaborate on "Sick Love," the sixth track on the record. The singer backs the track on piano, and he and Taupin were credited with co-writing the song. Critics have described it as similar to the duo's 1970s hit, "Bennie and the Jets."
The band sought out John while in the process of making the album. Josh Klinghoffer, RHCP guitarist, revealed during a release party, that while creating the track "it just sounded like Elton was involved somehow, someway. So we thought we should just invite him down and see if he likes it and wants to play on it."
The Red Hot Chili Peppers last album prior to The Getaway, was I'm With You, dropped back in 2011.
