Australia Private Capex Slides 2.1% In Q4

Private capital expenditure in Australia was down a seasonally adjusted 2.1 percent on quarter in the fourth quarter of 2016, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Thursday - coming in at A$27.579 billion.

The headline figure missed expectations for a fall of 0.5 percent following the 4.0 percent decline in the three months prior.

Capex for buildings and structures fell 4.1 percent on quarter and 25.5 percent on year to A$15.314 billion.

Spending for equipment and machinery advanced 0.4 percent on quarter and 1.5 percent on year to A$12.264 billion.
