Fujitsu, the Japanese information technology conglomerate, is set to introduce IOTA, which it calls the next generation distributed ledger technology or blockchain, at the Hannover Messe trade fair in Germany this month.
The trade fair, Germany's biggest, is set to take place between April 23-27. The show will host 6,500 exhibitors and 250,000 visitors.
IOTA is a decentralized open source distributed ledger that runs on a directed acyclic graph, or DAG, protocol called the Tangle. The platform offers scalable technology that has been specifically designed to be the backbone for the Internet of Things, or IoT. Transactions happen on the ledger peer-to-peer without any transaction fees and with unlimited scalability. In crypto exchanges, the corresponding token is listed as mega IOTA or MIOTA which is equivalent to 1 million IOTA.

Earlier this month, Fujitsu's Head of Central Europe, Rolf Werner, joined the blockchain non-profit IOTA Foundation.
Reports said 10 live demos of IOTA are planned by companies such as Fujitsu, T-systems and Huawei at Hannover Messe. Fujitsu will demonstrate how component and process data can be tracked and unalterably saved to the IOTA Tangle in a Supply Chain Management context.
Further, the company said the potential applications of IOTA include its deployment to ensure the use of original components, as well as for warranty management.
More specifically, Fujitsu's IOTA Tangle-based use cases include component IDs, which are a scalable amount of production elements that have dedicated IDs saved on the Tangle, Kai Pasing, head of CEO Office for Central Europe said on Twitter.
Cases also include a component audit trail under which every component will be tracked over the production cycle or verified on the Tangle. They can also be sorted out by the robots if they are tampered.
Then there are Auditable Robot Lifecycles under which the vast amount of sensor data produced by industry robots will be immutably stored in a dedicated MAM Stream for the complete lifecycle of each robot.
A Fujitsu Full Node that is connected to the first K5 Enterprise IOTA full node will be unveiled at the event.
