Stocks Climb Off Worst Levels But Remain Mostly Lower - U.S. Commentary

After coming under pressure early in the session, stocks have regained some ground but remain firmly negative in mid-day trading on Monday. With the drop on the day, the major averages are adding to the steep losses posted last Friday.

Currently, the major averages are stuck in the red. The Dow is down 154.76 points or 0.6 percent at 23,945.75, the Nasdaq is down 29.06 points or 0.4 percent at 6,881.60 and the S&P 500 is down 13.37 points or 0.5 percent at 2,586.58.
