Beyoncé offered up a few words of thanks to her mother Tina Knowles in honor of Mother's Day over the weekend. In an open letter posted to her website, Bey said that her own new motherhood has given her a whole new appreciation for their relationship.
"Everything I am is because of you! You are the first voice that ever sang to me. At every turn you push me to be better. You teach me to be true to myself and the ones I love. When I look into your eyes, I am sooo proud. Now that I'm a mother, I truly realize all the sacrifices you made for us. My love for you goes beyond what I can say. Happy Happy Mama's Day. Love Beyoncé," she writes in the note.
Tina also spoke with Us Weekly about the holiday and said she planned to spend it with her daughters and her granddaughter Blue Ivy:
"[We're] all going to be together," she said. "We're excited because it's Beyoncé's first Mother's Day. I'm hoping to cook! I want to cook. My traditional soul food and maybe gumbo. That's my favorite dish!"
