Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish and several other A-list artists have joined a new Planned Parenthood campaign in support for safe, legal abortion.
The celebrities plan to support Planned Parenthood in protest against a recent wave of laws in states across the U.S. restricting access to abortion.
The list of signees also includes Lizzo, Halsey, John Legend, Nicki Minaj, Demi Lovato, Dua Lipa, G-Eazy, HAIM, Sara Bareilles, Troye Sivan, Macklemore, Megan Thee Stallion, Miley Cyrus, Kacey Musgraves, Carole King, Hayley Kiyoko, Bon Iver, and Beck.
The artists signed on to a "Band Together, Bans Off" ad, which appeared in the August 24 issue of Billboard.
The ad raises awareness about the harm of sweeping bans on access to safe, legal abortion and affirm that no one is free unless they control their own body. The ad is supported by nearly 140 artists.
"I'm proud to be standing up for Planned Parenthood as they fight for fair and equal access to reproductive rights. We cannot live freely and move fully in the world when our basic right to access the reproductive health care we need is under attack. Every person deserves the right to control their body, their life, and their future," Eilish said.
Planned Parenthood plans to motivate half a million people to sign an online petition opposing the bans by January 22, 2020, the 47th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, which made access to safe, legal abortion a constitutional right.
